Really great concert, the sound was excellent especially for the period.Plenty of inter track chat, really down to earth no b….I would certainly recommend it especially for Neil Young fans .

Excellent set of songs , well recorded , especially when you consider how long ago it took place. The in between song chatter was amusing at first but it's getting wearing after repeated listenings. Haven't watched the DVD yet.

What more can be written that's new about Neil Young. His high pitched keening voice still makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up or alternatively brings a tear to my eye just like it did when I first heard it back in 1968. This CD is another chapter in the slow release of his archives which he has been promising for it seems decades but only recently has begun to fulfil. It comes with a bonus audio/video DVD and the one I bought in auction was a tremendous bargain. This is a must have for anyone who likes Buffalo Springfield or the first three or four Neil Young LPs. It was from a solo concert recorded in 1968 and features superb versions of Springfield numbers like Mr Soul and Broken Arrow together with what were then brand new songs like The Last Trip To Tulsa and The Loner. A central track is Sugar Mountain which is previously unreleased as far as I know. This is a live in concert recording but the digital sound reproduction is really very good indeed. You can enjoy this CD either as an imagined member of the audience at that Canterbury House gig 41 years ago because the songs are interspersed with Neil-type monologues or 'raps' as it says on the cover which are very amusing and serve to recreate the live atmosphere or like me you can edit those out and transfer just the songs themselves to your iPod. Either way you will not be disappointed in the totally unique voice of the great Neil Young as it sounded when we were young. If on the other hand you happen to be one of the sad people who for some unknown reason are unfortunate enough to detest his 'whining, nasel drone' then this is not for you but hey, if that is you, you have already given up on this encomium of praise. I've got my ticket for his concert in Nottingham, England later this year and I do not expect him to sound like he does on this 5 star rated CD but I do expect to be moved nevertheless. I have always been a fan of Neil Young's melancholy 'folky' material, especially since I was introduced to "After the Goldrush" and "Harvest" in the early 1970s but had never heard these earlier songs except for "Birds" and "Broken Arrow" ( Buffalo Springfield version ) . . . I am truly warmed by their simplicity and the unique sound of Neil Young's voice as he sounded in his twenties. A discovery that is better late than never. Just listen. I bought this CD because I wanted to hear Neil Young singing "Broken Arrow" as a solo folk piece and I think it's much more sincere than the Buffalo Springfield version. The bonus is all the other heartwarming songs that appear here on the Sugar Mountain album.
