I am reading all the Jo Nesbo Harry Hole series and this was offered at an excellent price. The plot was great, moved quickly from the beginning and grabbed my interest straightaway. It had two story lines. Both were extremely good puzzles. The first concerns the search for a bank robber who shot a cashier at the start of the book. The second was what happened to Harry, who was tempted in by an ex girlfriend for an evening at her place in the absence of his new love Rakel. Inevitably things with the ex go further than he planned, then Harry wakes up back at his flat in a bad way (no surprises there the if you read the other Harry Hole books) with no memory of the evening before, and shortly after Anna the ex is found dead, Harry apparently was the last person to see her alive. The plots do intertwine eventually with lots of twists and turns along the way, and the ending genuinely surprised me. I really had to slow myself down as it was so good I wanted to read in one sitting, yet also wanted the treat to go on a little longer. Better in my opinion than The Devils Star and the Redbreast, in this series and a terrific read, I can't compare to,the Redeemer or The Bat, reading those next.Read full review
