When I learned about Aspergers/Autism, I was desperate for the Haynes Manual for an autistic body. This book, aptly subtitled 'A User Guide ..', has given me that manual. It is full of everyday details of how the author experiences Aspergers. These little specific details are so helpful for either self-diagnosis, or for empathy/understanding of a loved one with Aspergers. They reveal the way that the inner world of an Aspie is experienced, and the challenges of participating in a social world dominated by non-Aspies. There is also a lot of practical help, tips and suggestions of things that have worked for the author. In summary, this is a helpful manual, which describes what is happening in the autistic body, and tips to manage that body in an allistic (non autistic) world.
