Hello and welcome to teraltrains. We are a small model railway business dealing exclusively with 00 Gauge Locomotives and DMUs. Formed via the experience of selling locos privately on ebay as ‘teral2’ since 2007, teraltrains will continue delivering the same quality reputation and service. We sell Bachmann, Hornby and Heljan items. We sell an interesting variety of locos, some limited editions, special collector’s sets and ‘end of line’ items that are either no longer available or increasingly hard to find. We sell items that we are comfortable with and understand, in order to give you an excellent service. We always do our best to treat our customers the same way that we would wish to be treated.

You will not find us to be the cheapest on ebay. We are not here to engage in price wars. We simply cannot afford to as our profit margins are small compared with other larger retailers. We understand that times are hard and every penny counts. However, we aim to deliver an excellent product and service that our customers will recognise and value. You will notice that all our items are sold with a flat fee of £4 for Postage & Packing. All items will be carefully checked, tested and security marked, then securely wrapped and packed and sent by Special or Recorded Delivery. Please allow at least 5 to 6 working days for delivery from clearance of payment. If we can improve on that, we’ll email you to let you know. As we are a small business, we have chosen not to be VAT registered. Therefore, our invoices and receipts will not show VAT. I purchased these Heljan Class 58 locos brand new direct from a leading UK Heljan retailer in September 2011. They are genuinely brand new and have been kept in their original packing cases in dry storage. They have not been used, only to test and photograph prior to listing. Heljan are renowned for producing classic, less common locos with an excellent reputation for smooth and quiet running motors. The Class 58’s are no exception and the Coal Sector liveried 58’s are generally quite sought after. Admittedly, the ‘Mainline’ branded 58’s have fetched lower prices in the last 18 months, but are now realising higher premiums. The Class 58009 (Heljan ref no: 58061) is very nicely detailed with all Buffer Bar detail factory pre-fitted, which saves a lot of hassle for those of us who are not so dextrous with the tweezers and glue!

*It is important to highlight that the Heljan 58061 (58009) models suffered a factory production typo error where the ‘Mainline’ branding was misspelt ‘Mainiine’ (see top photos). To those in the know, this undoubtedly affected sales and the overall perceived value of the locos. How so many got through Heljan quality control remains a mystery to me but there you go. However, teraltrains has risen to the challenge and every 58009 that we sell will have the ‘i’ carefully re-painted to ‘I’ (see middle photos). Another important point to note, especially those new to Heljan locos is the front and tail lighting. Heljan have traditionally used ‘channelled’ lighting and sometimes the results can be a slight miss match in brightness balance and some minimal light ‘bleeding’ in the lamp clusters. This isn’t usually a problem (see photos below) but you need to be aware of the possibilities. There is no cab lighting fitted on these models. Those ebayers familiar with my listings will know that I do my best to explain everything I can about a loco and then let buyers make their own informed choice. With this in mind, please note that every loco sold will be carefully pre-checked and tested prior to despatch.

These locos have long since gone out of production and there is no sign of Heljan re-releasing them. These ‘Mainline’ 58’s are reasonably priced and we only charge £4.00 for postage by First Class Recorded Delivery, which costs us £6.55. They are beautifully boxed and will be carefully wrapped and packed. Remember when you buy a loco from teraltrains, you are helping to support a small model railway business in Fife. Thank you.

N.B: These locos are 8 Pin DCC Ready and will run as they are on 12vDC. If you want to convert them to DCC fitted, you will need 1 x 8 Pin Decoder. We offer a decoder purchase and fitting service (see my other listings) at a reasonable price. If you do want us to fit a DCC Decoder to your loco, please place a ‘Buy It Now’ order on the appropriate teraltrains (decoder fitting) listing along with your purchase of the Loco. If you could send us a message to confirm your requirement, that would be much appreciated.

 

Please note: If you decide to fit your own 8 Pin Decoder on this Heljan loco, I would recommend that you use a Decoder that has a minimum running power output of no less than 1 Amp, such as the Bachmann 36-553, Gaugemaster DCC20 or Digitrax DH165IP or DN135PS to name a few. 

 

teraltrains trading Terms and Conditions:

 1.            As a registered business, we are bound by the 1979 Sale of Goods Act. That means the goods we sell you must be ‘as described’, of ‘satisfactory quality’ and ‘fit for purpose’. All our items will be clearly described as to condition (whether new or used).  If the item is listed and sold new, then that is what you should expect to receive. This includes the loco, the box, spares/attachments/nameplates etc. and paperwork and any other associated presentation material. If the box is damaged, then we will say so and describe it as best we can, supported by photograph(s). It is then up to you to decide whether or not to buy. If the item is sold as used or pre-owned, we will explain as such and it is up to you to decide whether or not to buy. Whether the item is listed new or used, when it has been sold and paid for, the item will be briefly tested and all the parts and paperwork etc. will be checked to ensure all is present and correct. The loco and the box will be security labelled and marked ‘teraltrains’. This is to assure you the buyer that you have received a quality product from teraltrains and also to assure us that if you do have to send it back to us, the item(s) did indeed come from us.

2.             If the item (Box) is received damaged in transit and/or parts and paperwork are found to be missing and/or the loco does not operate properly when first tested, then you must notify us within 3 working days of receipt of the item and discovery of the damage/fault. Time is of the essence here and taking photographs is very helpful. Depending on the circumstances of the incident, we will promptly seek to replace the item or give a full/partial refund as appropriate, including the return postage costs.

3.             Opening, Handling & Testing. On receipt of the item and finding that the packaging and loco box are sound, undamaged and as described and that the contents are satisfactory and complete, we would strongly recommend that you test the item as soon as is reasonably practicable. Please open the box flaps carefully (avoiding causing any tears or creases) as this can affect the overall value of the item, should it have to be returned. When removing a loco from its housing and wrapping, for first inspection, we would always recommend that customers use cotton or latex gloves. This avoids the risk of leaving handling marks on the body/paintwork. Always read and act on the manufacturer’s instructions enclosed. This includes using the correct controller and voltage setting (DC or DCC) and appropriate levels of power when running in. We appreciate you may choose to store the item unopened and untested. Please understand that this could make any future discovery of a fault more difficult to resolve within what the law would describe and determine as a ‘reasonable time’.

4.             Returns Policy. Therefore, with the above recommendations in mind, if the item fails to operate within 30 days of purchase and use, we will refund or replace in full (including return postage) providing the item, box and all contents have not been damaged, defaced or devalued by:

i.              Improper usage, such as rough or careless handling, dropping or scratching of the item, damage to buffers, hoses, couplings, connectors or wires, windows, wiper detail, etc. This includes handling by children (12 years and under), whether intentional or not. Also, if the bagged spares/nameplates have been opened and/or incorrectly fitted, broken or lost. 

ii.             Use of incorrect voltage or faulty/substandard controller equipment or careless use of the loco during live operation. Which actions result in damage to the loco motor, circuit boards and parts, wiring, decoder/sound card (if fitted) and/or lights etc.

iii.            The fitting (and removal) of DCC decoders, sound cards, speakers and other devices by the customer. This includes physical removal of any factory fitted suppression coils and/or capacitors. (N.B: teraltrains offers a decoder fitting service. If we fit a decoder for you, then we will guarantee its reliability along with the loco.) If you intend to fit a decoder, please make sure that you have fully tested the model and have carefully followed the manufacturer’s instructions (including ‘running in’) first. We will assume that if you open the loco to fit a decoder, you are satisfied with the quality, operation and presentation of the loco, the box, spares/attachments/nameplates and paperwork etc. and have thus accepted full ownership and personal responsibility for the item.

iv.            Painting (including ‘powder’ weathering) and/or detailing by modified numbers, transfers or nameplates being added or removed in any way.

v.             The ‘teraltrains’ chassis security seal and/or box brand label has been removed or defaced. The security seal determines whether the loco has been ‘opened’ (body removed from chassis). N.B. if the returned item and box does not have a legitimate ‘teraltrains’ label and security marking, then we will assume the item is not ours and will return it. We reserve the right to take legal action against anyone who seeks to defraud us by knowingly attempting to return items to us that are not ours.

vi.            Loss or damage by the customer to the box, spares/attachments/nameplates etc. and paperwork and any other associated presentation material, including internal wrapping (other than that which was originally described in the listing) or may have incurred during postage/delivery to the customer that was not clearly notified to us before return.

vii.           Loss or damage incurred during the return of the item due to careless and/or inadequate packing and postage precautions (see return postage: paragraph 6).

If any of the above is considered by us to have occurred, teraltrains reserves the right to reduce or decline the offer of refund, depending on the level of loss incurred to us. We reserve the right to charge a 10%‘re-stocking’ fee if, on safe return, the item is found not to be defective but can no longer be described as new (N.B: this clause does not apply to items returned under the ‘cooling off’ ruling (see paragraph 5)). We are always keen to resolve the matter fairly and equitably as the 1979 Sale of Goods Act refers to what is ‘fair and reasonable’.  These items are highly detailed and fragile models and we rely on the care and commitment of buyers to treat them accordingly. None of the above clauses are intended to be construed as ‘restrictive statements’. We will always seek to resolve a problem fairly and reasonably but we ultimately rely on the honesty and goodwill of our customers. 5.             As an ebay business, we are bound by The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. In addition to your rights under the Sale of Goods Act, this means that if you buy from us via Buy It Now (BIN), you are allowed 7 days ‘cooling off’ period if you should change your mind. This means that if you change your mind and no longer want the item, you must notify us within 7 days of receipt and advise us that you are returning the item immediately. The item MUST be returned to us within 3 working days of your notice to return, in the exact condition it was wrapped, packed and delivered to you. That means as per all the conditions as laid out in in paragraphs 1- 4. The loco, box, spares/attachments/nameplates etc. and paperwork and any other associated presentation material must be returned intact complete and undamaged. The item must be wrapped and packed securely as to the standards as it was received. The item must be posted and returned to the same value standard that was paid to have it delivered to you, i.e: Special or Recorded Delivery, whichever applied in despatch to you. Please note that failure to adhere to this requirement, in that if it should result in loss or damage of the item in transit, the customer will be liable for the loss in full and teraltrains will accept no liability. It is important that customers appreciate that if they return an item under the ‘cooling off’ ruling, the customer is responsible for the safe return of the item to us in the identical condition it was sold. Note: we will not refund the return postage costs under the ‘cooling off’ conditions.

6.             Return Postage.  We make sure your item is properly packed and insured to the right level of value/cover. Equally so, if an item needs to be returned to us, it is essential that you the customer wrap and pack the item securely to the condition as was delivered to you. This includes return to us under the same level/standard of postage: Special or Recorded Delivery, whichever applies. It is essential that you adhere to this requirement. If you do not return the item by Special Delivery or Recorded postage and the item is lost or destroyed in transit, you the customer will be liable for the loss of the item. Similarly, if the item is damaged in the return post and it is down to careless or insubstantial packing, then we will reduce the value of any refund accordingly. If the returned item meets with all the conditions as set out in paragraphs 1-4, teraltrains will be happy to refund the customers return postage costs in full. Please note that this does not apply to customers who return items under the 7 day ‘cooling off’ period, who change their minds.  We have the legal right to impose this stipulation as all our contact details, terms & conditions are clearly listed under our listings on ebay and contained in the despatch notes with your order. If you have any questions or queries regarding these stipulations, please feel free to check out the ebay ‘Safety Centre’ guidance pages and/or contact us prior to making any purchase.

7.             We only despatch after payment has been received and cleared. Payment must be made and received in full within 72 hours (3 days) of end of Auction. Failure to pay us within this time may result in the item being re-listed and the buyer reported to ebay as a non-payer and being blocked from doing any further business with us. Pay Pal account holders preferred for ebay purchases.  Most of our listings will require payment by Pay Pal only. Pay Pal offers both the buyer and seller important protection. We may make exceptions and accept a cheque. Please do not bid on our listings ebay without a Pay Pal account and assume that we will automatically accept a cheque, postal order or cash etc. You may have your bid refused, the item may be re-listed and you could be referred to ebay as a non-payer.  If you would like to pay by cheque, see paragraph 11. 8.             Genuine UK Bidders/Buyers only - We will not post overseas. No timewasters please. We reserve the right to request bidders to leave the auction, or withhold sale of the item(s) if we have adequate reason to believe the potential buyer is not credible or reliable. We will report any suspicious bidding activity, abusive feedback/messages and all non-payers to ebay.                           

9.             We will always send your items by Special or Recorded Delivery, depending on the value. We will notify you of date of despatch and proof/method of postage. We do our best to keep you informed of despatch dates. We will usually look to get your item to you within 5-6 working days from clearance of your payment. Packing will always be secure and strong and marked for your personal attention. If you should have any special delivery requirements such as you are going on holiday and want us to delay despatch, or you wish us to send items as gifts to family and friends, then please advise us ASAP prior to despatch.

10.          Call and Collect.  We recognise and appreciate that some customers in the Fife area may wish to call and collect their items from us.  Please understand that we run this business from a private address and we offer this service as a courtesy. Therefore, please telephone us first on 07737 020350 to arrange a time to visit. Please make telephone calls at reasonable times: Monday to Saturday 10.00 to 18.00. Thank you.

11.          Payment by Cheque. We do appreciate that some customers do not have a Pay Pal account and prefer to pay by cheque. If you wish to pay by cheque you must contact us first via the ebay listing (Contact Seller) or telephone us on 07737 020350, so we can make the appropriate arrangements. Please note that we cannot be held responsible if cheques are lost or stolen in the post. All payments by cheque have to clear through our account before any items can be despatched or collected.

 12.         Ebay Feedback and Ratings. Please let us know ASAP when you receive your items. Please be prompt, honest and genuine in your feedback. If you like the service you got from us please tell us, it means a lot to us. Please do not leave any negative or neutral feedback without contacting us first. The practice of leaving negative feedback without giving the seller on opportunity to resolve the matter is both unfair and unethical and is frowned upon by ebay. We want our customers to be happy with our service and come back again. We will always do our best to resolve any problems fairly and reasonably, as we value our customers. Nevertheless, we will always challenge any unfair feedback.
