This is the sort of lens to leave on your camera all the time as a quick 'grab it and go' option. It's versatile, not too heavy, autofocuses in the blink of an eye, and fits into a neat case without any fuss. I'm thinking of getting another for my other body, but I already have an older, slightly slower 28-80 zoom. The other option is a 24-85 zoom which has vibration reduction, but these typically go for £250 - £350. I think I'll stick with it.

Great quality manual focus full frame lens with macro. Very smooth focus. Unusually the lens lengthens at the wide angle setting. Ring adjustment for the zoom i find better than the push & pull action combined with focus on some lenses of this period. Seems sharp for a lens of this age (later Nikon lenses are probably sharper but of course not built like this one!). I'd recommend for film although compatible with some higher end digital cameras too where manual focus is preferred.

Fantastic lens. The focus action is noisy, but that is normal as I've owned 3 and they were all the same. Solid metal, top class vintage image quality and so cheap to buy.
