I found out about this game through Wikipedia, since I am a fan of the Zelda series and this is one of it's spin-off characters. It has not been released stateside and so far there are no plans to change this. I think the reasoning for this is that the gameplay is not really geared towards american audiences. The majority of the game consists of "working", and not so much just playing. Your goal is to generate enough rupees (the currency in all Legend of Zelda games) to raise a magical tower to reach "Rupeeland". This is accomplished through finding treasure, defeating bosses, but mostly from gathering ingredients to complete various recipes to sell to townsfolk. Tingle does not level up, but the ingredient gathering could be likened to "grinding" in RPG's because it is very repetitious. The game has a generally foreign feel to it as well, with sound effects and music generally leaning towards the bizarre side. There are Zelda references scattered throughout the game which is a nice touch for fans. Despite it's somewhat bland presentation, I found myself coming back for more and more of the game. I liked earning rupees, it felt like I was accomplishing something from all of my recipe-making and landscape scouring. Would this game sell well here in america? Doubtful. It definitely has a small niche of Zelda lovers and those just curious for something different. Also the fact that Tingle is close to the most unlikely of protagonists is not helping the matter either. But there is a lot to do here, if you are a fan of collecting, searching, and doing a lot of back-and-forth in your games, this is well suited for you. The import price can be steep, but at least this game will make your DS collection unique, doubly so if you can get your hands on a copy of Electroplankton. :) Note: When my copy arrived the instructions were not in English, although the game text is, just be aware that there are a lot of German, Italian, and Spanish versions being sold.Read full review
This game is all about finding treasure and collecting rupees while exploring fun quirky lands. And it is ADDICTIVE. Don't expect this to be like a Legend of Zelda game just because of tingle, but it does have little zelda things here and there. if you like an addictive fun adventure, then this is worth it.
