Its ok.. There's nothing really different with it. i just like the camera because its 3.2mp. thats all. but what i hate about it, it functions so sloow. when you go to inbox, it will take a couple of minutes before a message will open.
At first glance, the Nokia N93 is huge. Closer inspection reveals that, er... it IS huge, but that there's a good reason for it. The camera module, across the top of the device, has fixed dimensions and these rather dictate the overall thickness and width of the rest of the smartphone. In case you've been out of the solar system and out of touch with the smartphone world, and in terms of multimedia relevance, the features you really need to know about are: The camera. 3.2 megapixels (2048 by 1536 pixels), with a unique (for S60) 3x optical zoom. What this means in practice is that you can zoom in to a factor of 3 before any digital zooming is applied. So, right up to that point, you still get the full 3.2mp resolution at full quality. Even the Nokia N90, its spritual predecessor, didn't have an optical zoom. The camcorder. The same CMOS array is used, with the same Carl Zeiss optics but without the auto-focus, to capture video at VGA resolution (640 by 480 pixels) at 30 frames per second. Note that this isn't technically 'DVD-quality' (usually 720 by 576 pixels in Europe), but it's close enough for most practical purposes. The screen. The 2.4" display on the N93 is fabulous. Really. The colours are gorgeous, the contrast is to die for, even outdoors in bright sunlight, and it's a great complement to the camera functionality. The internal and external memory slots. 50MB of internal flash memory is where who should install most of your third party applications, so that you can keep the miniSD card for video capture. You'll need it. 10 minutes of video (typical for messing around with your family during a day out) will need 280MB. Take the N93 away for a week and you'll almost certainly be using up the lion's share of a 2GB card, especially when you factor in photos at over a megabyte a time. UPnP. The N93 can connect to and interact with UPnP devices via WiFi. This includes the ability to share files on the N93 so they can be accessed via other UPnP devices or to access files on other UPnP devices (the N93 can copy them to its own memory). The N93 also acts as a UPnP remote control allowing you to control the media shown or played on other devices. The Pop-port and TV-out lead. A first for a smartphone, the N93 can drive a TV (or any other AV equipment) directly via the supplied Pop-port to Composite (Red/Yellow/White) lead. This works brilliantlyand from any application, from RealPlayer to general applications to games. A dedicated 'TV out' utility lets you choose the TV standard to use (PAL/NTSC) and screen aspect ratio.Read full review
likes: I use it as a stand alone gps device with the seperate bluetooth reciever. It has a good radio and mp3 player too, I shelved my seperate mp3 ages ago. These features don't interfere with normal phone usage. The folding screen is handy since it allows me to place the phone on the dash board or desk and use it like a mini pc. The wireless is handy for internet usage for short periods. dislikes: Battery life is not so good, especialy when usung with gps, so I have to keep the power connecter in. The phone is a little bulky but it is solid and tough. Screen is too small to be effective for web surfing and the keypad is poor. A larger screen and full qwerty keyboard and built in gps module would have made this mobile unbeatable. The new models do all this in one but the screens are not the folding type, so need to be used hand held or need some caddy in the car. I decided to buy this mobile because I have been using one for a few years, but mine has had a few bumps and droppages and the power socket had broken. So buying this was to primarily use it to make good my original phone and then keep the second tatty phone as an offline gps gadget in the car. Although one phone with the wired headphones can do it all, placing the phone on the dash when using the gps and headphones for mp3/ recieve calls was too fiddly as the wire would be in the way.Read full review
I first saw pictures of the N93 at the beggining of 2009 (having not know of its original release) and thought it an awesome upgrade from a T-Mobile locked 5300 Xpress Music, being an design student I need a good camera and a good music player. When I found out how big and heavy it was, I thought "Hmm... its not *that* big of course now I have one it really is huge (almost double the lenght of the 5300 when its open) and it does weigh a bit more than most phones, but I find it a reassuring weight, like a Parker pen or a decent spanner you know the weight is worth something. In the case of the N93 the weight is worth a 3MP equipped with a Carl Zeiss lens (yeah... search ebay for a Carl Zeiss camera lens and feel your wallet constrict in fear!) WLAN (WiFi/wireless internet) and many other features! Plus its a S60 Smartphone, so it can run a huge amount of 3rd party applications/games etc This is my first smart phone and it's just like a small computer, you can have several things open and "alt tab" between them! I was amazed, it's like having a hacked PSP that makes calls and texts Oh! I forgot to mention that I was using a Motorola V3 to replace the locked 5300 I had... Im so glad that I'm back to a Nokia, i forgot how easy text messaging can be! Nokia have the best predictive text messaging of any phone company, that and it doesn't hang when you flip it open to answer a call/text... Okay... bad points... So far I have managed to make the phone lock up three times (since 3 hours ago when I picked it up) by Bluetoothing songs from the 5300 to the N93 because just like a computer it has RAM and just like a computer when you fill it up it locks, but c'est la vie! its still better than a V3! On the subject of Bluetooth, it seems that any file you receive is instantly dumped into your SMS Inbox which is a bit annoying as you have to go into messages, open the Bluetooth message and then choose Save to actually use it... Well, thats about it! I think its a marvellous phone even compared to the newest phones on the market. (Touch screens are absolute rubbish, can you really see that lasting long in a pocket that normally has loose change or keys in it? or in fact surviving normal pocket wear? i dont think so) It's also one if the best equipped flip phones out there, seeing as flip phone are out of fasion at the moment. Nokia N93, good? yes, very!Read full review
