Thoroughly absorbing
Although filmed a while ago, its excellent acting and directing endures. There are surprise pop up stars like Liz Taylor, James Stewart, Robert Mitcham. I have found this series thoroughly absorbing and enjoyable and in addition its historical setting is informative about a very turbulant time in American history which had a profound effect on Europe too.

Fantastic telling of two mens friendship and the people who dont like it .
This one of the finest mini series ive ever watched , Book 1 deals early years of Orry Main and George hazard at Westpoint and beyond , Orry is southern and George is Northern , it also integrates their families and beliefs . Book 2 deals with the start and finish of the American Civil War . Book 3 is the aftermath of the war especially on the southern side . I havent dealt with everything , because it might spoil it for you . Interesting series depicting the North and South of America before, during and after the Civil War, where the South wanted to continue slavery and the North wanted it to end. The series focuses on two friends who train at West Point together and their families. One is from the North, the other from the South. Lots of twists and turns to the plot, and kept me engaged throughout. Attention is also paid to the black characters and how their lives change through the war and Abraham Lincoln's reforms.Interesting series depicting the North and South of America before, during and after the Civil War, where the South wanted to continue slavery and the North wanted it to end. Great series
This is one of my favorite series since I was a child and I was happy to find it in a complete version on DVDs. All DVDs have subtitles in more languages, which is good for people who are not natives speakers of English. This is a great epic story about the American civil war in the 19th century and about friendship and love above all.
