Let's not kid ourselves, an Intel T7200 Core2Duo CPU is obsolescent so it isn't going to turn your old laptop into a supercomputer. However, what you can expect is that it will boost the processing speed by about 23% - assuming that you had something like a T5500 CPU fitted previously. If you read the system spec for the T7200 you'll notice that you'll benefit from a higher clock-rate plus extra cache memory. OK, the improvement isn't huge, but it can make the difference between having a laptop which is intolerably slow, and one which will do the job - particularly if you're running a lightweight Linux distro such as Bodhi Linux or Lubuntu etc. Given that T7200 CPUs sell for around $2 US dollars (including postage) from China then it's a cheap way of extending the life of an old laptop PC. Just make sure that your laptop is compatible with a T7200, and upgrade its BIOS if necessary. The trick to getting the most out of a T7200 CPU is to install a lightweight Linux distro on your laptop, if you can. Windows is a resource hog and Linux has a much smaller foot-print.Read full review

My 8 years old IBM T60 had T1300 Core Solo processor and it was working on 100% of CPU workload near all the time. I was happy with it because it is my first laptop and it is a high quality product, but was a little bit slow. I have checked the CPU compatibility of T60 and found T7400 as the max supported CPU. It was expensive for me, but the second placed T7200 had really good price. I boght it on 6/18/2014. My T7200 arrived so quickly. I have learned from youtube videos, how to replace CPU and did it. My T60 works with this core 2 duo CPU faster and better than before. I use it every day and love it. Thank you eBay, thank you solooper2012.
Take a Intel T-2600 x32 and replace it with a T-7200 x64 and WOW, Blast Off, Zoom Out, etc, et al. The Dell E1705 now Screams out like a Banchee!

Replaced Core Solo 1500 in Dell e1505. What a differenc. Up grade Bios first, pull old chip, clean heatsink, install Core 2 Duo T7200. Wow, great performance. Can't beat the price.
This is the second of these CPUs that I have purchased to upgrade my stock Dell Latitude D620 laptops. They shipped with the 2.0 Core2Duo 2.0 GHz w/2MB cache. This chip with 4MB cache provides a good boost in certain applications such as Photoshop, Corel, etc. - worth the ~$25 IMO.
