First you have to remember that this film was released nearly 50 years ago in 1969. If you judge it by today's production standards you'll think the acting is pretty wooden, the back projection obvious and unconvincing and the action sequences not that special. But if you could transport yourself back 50 years you'd see things differently. This is a glamourous, action-packed film and the story is one of Fleming's strongest. George Lazenby's only Bond, but let's not hold that against him or cloud our appreciation of the film. He plays the role well and stands up favourably against other Bonds. Dianna Rigg puts in a strong performance and looks amazing. On Her Majesty's Secret Service was all filmed on film, of course, and some of the action sequences - particularly the skiing - were ground breaking and required great technical skill, both in front of and behind the camera. This Ultimate Edition is excellent. Picture quality is really very good and the extras on disc 2 are well worth a watch.Read full review

This has always been one of my favourite Bond films and I could never understand why George Lazenby never got the chance to make a further film. He was easily as good in the role as the late Sir Roger Moor, who to me always seemed to be “The Saint” playing someone else.At least Mr Lazenby was the right age for a secret agent.A great film with plenty of action and a supporting cast that included Diana Rigg and the great Tele Savalas

After Sean Connery walked away from the role, it was time for a new James Bond. The producers took a chance on Australian model George Lazenby. Though through complications, George left the role after just one movie. A very unique film in the francise, also following the Ian Fleming novel very well. Considering the lack of acting experience, George did a good job, although the general reaction at the time was negative, people were too used to Connery in the role (who the producers managed to bring back after the disapointment of this movie). However as time went by, it picked up a large following, many Bond fans consider this one of the best. Bond once again has to track down Blowfeld, leading him to the Swiss Alps, this time with the help of Tracey. Though as you will discover, it's not the typical relationship we come to find from Bond, has our hero finally found true love? I'll not go into anymore details, as I do not want to spoil you, however this movie is a must for every Bond fan, especially those who follow the novels. It has the right mix of action and drama. My only wish was that George never stayed on for more, as the follow up to this movie featured a well out of date Connery.Read full review
