I work in the realm of story; albeit in customer interaction rather than Business-to-Business communication; so this book was a 'must' although I bought it without much foreknowledge of its contents. Mighall proves to be a sprightly author who entertains as he informs (always a bonus). For me, the starring role of this book was to bring together much that had been inchoate in my mind in a way that will enable me to tell more effective stories. For you, this book might be about knowledge (I have worked with and studied stories for a long time); for me, it was revelatory as a skill enhancer and connection maker ("Only Connect" in good earnest). In fact, the story of what I got from this book was the story of the invention of the cat flap. Once one has seen the device, one thinks, "how terribly simple - anyone could have thought of one of those"; but it took a first-rate mind to actually put the simple steps together and create the world's first cat flap. If you work with stories, or if you simply want to understand how businesses seek to grab your attention with story, I say this book is for you. It is certainly a book I will come back to; both routinely and to 'brush up' for specific presentations.Read full review
