My previous sharpener (same make/model) of some 25-30 years) finally bit the dust so I needed a new one. This one is slightly improved over the first in that it has a button which holds the shaft so you can switch stones. This is MUCH handier than inserting a used stone into a hole to hold the shaft while loosening the retaining nut. However, the button is situated such that it is right where I place a finger while sharpening my chain! I therefore have to be very careful not to press in on the button while the motor is running! Certainly this is not a deal breaker and I'll probably get used to it, but it's a little annoying for now. We'll see if this unit can hold up for 20+ years.

This is an awesome tool to have. I always sharpened by hand. We where out cutting wood. My brother in law busted out his 12 volt sharpener, then started cutting like going through butter. I had to get one, best tool to take with you or leave behind the truck seat. Must have for wood cutters, amazed I made it this long with out one😳

It works. Cheap look and feel. Sharpening stones wear out really quickly. I sharpened two of my chains and there is visibly a lot of wear on the stone. The tool is based on a good idea but I would have paid a lot more for a quality unit.
