This review is for the Prym Cone and Spool Stand, item no. 611 769. The pieces of the stand are all metal. The base is heavy enough to stay in place pretty well without dragging or tipping. The rod which holds the cone/spool and the rod which guides the thread are also metal and screw into position. Even when screwed firmly into place they are a bit wobbly, but that doesn't seem to affect the function. The rod which holds the cone/spool sticks up less than three and three-quarter inches inside a cone; it looks a bit small to actually hold a cone and seems to rely more on a cone being held in position by it's weight. I haven't reached the end of my cone yet, so don't know whether that will be an issue as the cone gets lighter (I doubt it). I'm also using the stand for spools of thread which are wound in the same criss-cross way as cones, because some are a bit long for the horizontal spool holder on my sewing machine. It works pretty well, though the thread gets a bit twisted up at the point where it goes through the thread guide so I end up re-threading a bit more often than I'd normally need to.Read full review

This is an excellent product for those big reels of thread , before this I tried improvising with my own made spool holder but it toppled over and the thread broke, my sewing stopped very annoying! Since I got this Prym spool holder my spool does not topple over and the bonus is the thread going through a line helps stop thread breaking and less time threading it through again! Such a smooth sewing experience! 10/10 I would Highly recommend,it might be a little costly but those big threads have a housing now and cheaper to buy and longer it goes! I hope this is helpful! Only after you use it will you think ‘why didn’t I buy it before ‘ so go on!
