I bought this for my bathroom as I needed a small DAB radio with good battery life. I've had it for 2 months now and I'm very pleased with it. It receives a good signal, even with the aerial down and is easy to use. The sound is good for talk radio which is what I listen to. You have to buy the battery separately and that's quite expensive, but one charge lasts for ages (2 months after first charge and the indicator shows it half full). Charging is easy, you just plug the charger into the radio, you don't need to take the battery out. I'd give it 5 stars if the battery was cheaper.
As is always the case with Pure products this is a great quality radio. On the positive side, it is sturdy, has great reception and good sound quality and a good solid aerial. It also looks pretty good. On the down side it has no tone control and does not take standard batteries. If you want to use this radio away from the mains supply you have to buy a unique rechargeable battery pack that cost me £25 & delivery. That battery pack has a really long charge life but it makes the radio very expensive umless you plan to use it on the mains only.
I needed a small DAB radio for the study, i had tried other brands but have found the PURE was able to find and hold on to more stations. It is easy to set up and operate, has a quality sound for its size and if you get it at the right price good value. My minor dislike is the volume is not that loud say if you use it outside whilst washing the car ect-- however it is one of pures smaller models so to be expected.. I am running this on mains so you would have to research other reviews for comments on the powerpak cost/operation. Overall highly recomended
I bought one of these for my 8 year old daughter, the one I got was actually pink and looks good in her room. As it is not too big it sits nicely on top of her bookcase. It's so simple, I got it out the box and tuned it in to all available DAB stations without even looking at the instructions. I don't like leaving things on standby so every time it is switched on it has to reset the clock which takes a few seconds...then you can switch it on. It's perfect for a little girls room (or any other room come to that) don't be too put off by the seemingly low sound output wattage...if you don't intend using it in a large warehouse or 'Glastonbury' style field then it is fine (also, don't be put off by the fact that it is only 'mono'...because who sits dead-centre infront of stereo speakers anyway?)Despite the single speaker...it has a good quality sound. It has a headphone socket too and when listening this way you do get the full stereo sound. This is a good little radio, it's well made..and you can get FM stations too if the DAB signal is a bit unreliable. You can use this with a battery but it uses a special rechargeable unit made by Pure that sits inside the radio so you could use it as a travel radio and it will surely find a space in most rucksacks or travel bags...not sure how much use you'd get out of a charge though. Thoroughly recommended...and my little girl loves it! Buy and enjoy!Read full review
Well, it wasn't broken the power supply failed, new one purchased and its as good as new! The set up and use functions are so simple a child could do it! It actually sets itself. Sound quality as you can expect from both DAB and Pure is excellent given the size of the radio. It would be good if the new ones came with batteries for remote use instead of an optional extra. All told and very excellent quality product.
