Scans at 17 to 18 pages per minutes. Scans both sides at once, so none of the hassle of scanning the even pages then odd pages and not needing to interleave the images from the 2 scans. Go to Panasonic net to get most up to date software. Download from the page that holds common software for all high speed scanners, and also from the page for the KVS1025 and similar models, you need to go to both pages. Don't forget to get the manuals. Be sure to download 'Panasonic Image Capture Plus' software, it can straighten pages scanned at an angle, automatically put each page in portrait or landscape, check this as it can be fooled it there is little text on the page. It recovers well from miss-feeds etc. It will scan in black and white, grey scale, or colour. It will give a message when the rollers need cleaning one of the software components lets you reset the page count once you have cleaned it. It’s deigned to take replacement rollers so it should last well, provided they are available. The scanner coped with a stack of papers including thin paper from a writing pad and thin card. Ensure you don’t put too much in at once, and tap the sheets to get the edges lines up square especially the edge that is feeding into the scanner. It stacks the output best if you just drop down the first output flap, not the second, then place a book or similar next to it so the end of the paper hits the book. Otherwise pages can get skewed if you scan a lot of pages and later pages push against earlier ones. Works under windows 10, and is fairly compact especially when not in use and the input and output hoppers are retracted. If you want OCR (optical character recognition) download the base product then the update for it. I scan with ‘Image Capture Plus’, save the file as .tiff (thin it was .tiff), then load it into the excellent NAPS2 freeware to convert to PDF files with much better OCR, the files can then be searched for text. I have scanned about 15 thick ring files full of notes in a few weeks and it’s performing very well . Its survived a few paper jams mainly as a result of me not spotting papers were staples together, and jams are very easy to clear. Most scanner ‘hang’ and need powering on and off occasionally, its very rare to see this happen with this scanner, even after paper jams. After heavy use over a few weeks it’s looking like an excellent piece of kit.Read full review
