I bought one of these in Devon for myself and it so impressed my other half he decided to get rid of his nikon and buy one too. Its got great features, easy to use and the picture quality both recording and taking stills is great. I have taken hundreds of pictures on it and it never disappoints. It has proved itself in all different kinds of situations be it parties, fireworks displays, at the beach or just for a random snap. Zoom is great and the LCD screen is large and clear. I like that you can switch to the viewfinder on very bright days. I pretty much take it everywhere now and it's not too big and bulky and no fussy lens changes so all in all a great camera for the money and well worth it for amature photographers looking for a good entry level camera
My daughter is studying photography and I am fairly new to digital. We wanted a camera with a significant range of manual and low light options as well as the usual bells and whistles. We haven't managed to find fault with this one yet. All the functions are clearly indicated and easy to find. The optics are easily good enough for a digital camera within reasonable limits - for instance I wouldn't expect fabulous definition at extreme zoom range but I do expect and get it between 35mm and 300mm equivalents. The price is exceptionally good for the quality. Only tiny niggle - no facility for remote shutter release - useful for low light tripod work - but you could set the timer I suppose.
With the Panasonic cameras, you have a head start in picture quality due to the superb Leica lenses. Add the new 14mp sensor, and there is a better chance that the extra resolution of the lens will be faithfully captured. Every conceivable feature you might want is included. From point and shoot automatic to full manual, and a host of gimmicks which are probably never used. I have had lots of Panasonic cameras over the years and found they outperform the opposition. If you buy this one you will be impressed.
had an older lumix, upgraded because I wanted an easier to use video facility as I work for a dog rescue and take lots of pics for the website. It isn't easy to get the dogs to pose and this makes it easier to get good images.. very easy to use, don't have any dislikes about it I have a nikon compact digital camera which is easier to carry about, bit not much, and has nowhere near the performance
I'm a professional photographer and wanted something much smaller than my Nikon to carry around at parties etc when I'm not working. So very impressed with this camera. Has skin smoothing which is excellent :) Lots of different modes to use and large clear screen to see images. Movie mode is superb and found there was enough light from my christmas tree to make a great short movie without flash although in low lighting you would need some kind of lighting. Would highly recommend this camera 10/10.
