Okay, so when it first went on sale at £500 it maybe wasn't such good value, and you'd have to think long and hard before buying this instead of an entry level DSLR. But since the price fell to below £300 (and far less when you're buying used ones on eBay) it's worth considering. The kit lens is nothing special - not especially small or fast, and nonpowered zoom - but it does the job, and there are plenty of choices for pancake primes and powered zoom lenses later. I've only scratched the surface of the camera's features, but the screen is sharp and articulated, the camera itself is light but has a convenient hand-grip with a thumb pad on the back, so it's not too difficult to hold and use. There's a ton of customisation to explore and the knowledge that I can keep my lenses if I upgrade to another micro four thirds camera in future.Read full review

I am a retired professional photographer and have always used Nikon kit. My current Nikon D800 is brilliant but with expensive F2.8 lenses is a very heavy and bulky piece of kit to carry around on holiday. I have purchased a second hand /nearly new Lumix GF-6 for £180.00 and have just returned from a holiday in Spain where it has performed brilliantly. It is very solid and feels like a leica. The 4/3rds format takes a bit of getting used to as it is a different shape to the more usual 36x24 mm format . It came with the basic 14-42 mm lens, lens cap and every ready case. It can shoot raw images, at the same time a jpgs. It has a brilliant touch screen that angles outwards from the top so that if you want to take selfies its great. It has simple video shooting mode with very good sound.I did need a codec to view raw images in Photoshop 6 easily downloaded from Adobe. Having tried and tested it I am keeping it and will be looking for some extra lenses. I feel the large screen could be easily scratched unless stowed in the fitted case.As a beginners camera it ticks all the boxes but if you want to use a bigger flash there isn't a hot shoe and neither is there any way of connecting an external microphone for video.Read full review
I've been taking photo's for a long time, this is one of the best in-between cameras it's a compact SLR has interchangeable lenses it comes with a 14-42 lens & i have got a 100-300 one to go with it (not the best quality but good enough it cost £30 S/H Panasonic ones are £200-900!) for best results you need a tripod so this camera is for taking photographs, keep your little compact for taking snaps.
Ok!

An excellent camera that gives a bit more than Point & Shoot. Small, lightweight, yet versatile through interchangeable lenses the LUMIX DMC-GF6 is the ideal travel compact. Whilst a bit bulky with lens attached to be carried in a pocket it nevertheless fits into a backpack or shoulder back unobtrusively. An ideal camera for holidays or street shots. Highly recommended!
