The famous me super was up against the Nikon FG, The olympus OM20 and the Canon brick. Small light and reasonably easy to use once learned, although the Nikon FG20 is a better camera, the pentax is hard on its heels. The true advantage above the FG is that it has an abundance of lenses available and you don't pay "Nikon Tax" so although the name pentax doesn't have the brand image, it is a lot cheaper to build up a lens collection, about 50% cheaper. Lately prices have become rediculously high due to the old camera / out of date film lomo fad but bargains can still be had. You will pay a lot more for a black one, look for a fully working new looking example. Beware, heavily used ones tend to be troublesome, if used heavilymthe manual push buttons can stop working, they where the first push buttons but by no means the best, also mirror and shutter lock up problems can occur. The winding lever can jam if the owner has wound on hard or aggressively. The camera is not pro or semi pro so has no dust or weather protection, is not designed for heavy abuse and is very unlikely to have been serviced. Light steals will defiantly need replacing. Pros, small light easy to use, reliable if cared for, lens fitting very popular and affordable, high quality components and build quality. Cons. Can't take heavy punishment, quite often rediculously over priced, UN used untested ones often develope problems. Look for. Cosmeticly good appearance, no diets or dangs , fully tested and working examples., Avoid, heavy cosmetic wear, "worked last time it was used 10 years ago" examples. Expensive over priced ones Pay £75 max. Over all, a good reliable quality camera, ideal for beginners, students and amateurs who want quality images, a ledgent for a good reason, streets and streets ahead of the grossly over rated OM10 or 20. This IS the real thing, a "proper" cameraRead full review

The ME Super you can consider one of the very best Auto/Manual 35mm SLR cameras ever built, with the touch and feel of the camera in your hand being so wonderful, and reflects the high quality of build of all Pentax SLR's. Considering Digital has taken over from 35mm, everyone should try a film camera, if not for experience you will gain tuning up your photographic skills, but you will get the chance to enjoy the anticipated wait to see your photographs for the first time, something we have lost with digital photography, which seems to have taken the magic out of this delightful hobby. This is one of the nicest SLR bodies ever made. Small and light. These M series and A series Pentax bodies are the best designed Pentax cameras for me. Super A and Program A bodies have more features perhaps.
