a bit noisy
I bought this cat flap and whist the male persevered to get through the flap the female, who is a bit nervous won't go through it. The click as the mechanism unlocks the door is quite loud. it was very easy to program and is a smart and well made product.

Noisy & draughty
Although its advertised as having a draught excluder on the flap, it's a waste of time. My old manual one is less draughty. With this the draught comes in all around the door top& bottom. Also around the locking mechanism. It is also very loud when it clicks to release & lock. The cat only has to go near it for it to click. So if you have one that likes to sit near it, it will continually click. My 1 cat was absolutely terrified if the click & I was having to go out & retrieve her at night. Once she had approached it once & it clicked that was it. Tried it as a manual & even taped open & she wouldn't put her head into the tunnel. I should say that the outside view of this flap is not shown anywhere & that is because it's very ugly for one & the cat also has to.put its head into the ... We have always had "Staywell" cat flaps, and have found them to be good value and great quality. This microchip "Staywell" cat flap is no different, except that is recognises the cats microchip, and although one of our cats is a bit unsure of it, the other one is in and out as per normal. We purchased this cat flap because we kept getting next doors cat coming in, who would not only at our cat's food, but unfortunately spray as well.
