Excellent good looking product that does what it says on the tin. Simple conections and set up. Highly recommended.
Good Points: When the sound is cranked up its got an excellent bass. Bad Points: It is not a surround sound system, regardless of what the marketing says, this system is a 2.1 system. Whilst its supposed to provide a virtual surround sound, we did not experience this at all. On top of that it broke after 14 months and will no longer recognise dvds. General comments: Whilst the Philips HTS6510/05 is probably a good system for a small room, for a medium sized room (10' x 12') it is a stereo system, which given the sales ploy and marketing of this is a real virtual system that will send sound all around the room just as if it was a 5.1 system it doesn't. It was also disappointing after purchasing it, that after 14 months it stopped working with dvds. Which whilst only being two months over the standard warranty neither Philips or Currys (who I purchased it from) will consider repairing it free of charge. Therefore both Philips and Currys are also on my "not purchasing those or from them again" list.Read full review
The price of this Phillips home cinema system on Ebay was a contributing factor in my purchase. I had been told by a friend that the sound was very impressive for a three speaker system, and how right he was. A very impresive system for the money which is particulary suitable for rooms with limited space for multi speaker set up. I must add that at a full retail price in the low £300 range I may have looked at what other people had to offer at a similar price. However this home cinema sound system is often available on Ebay at half retail price or less and at that price you would be very pushed to find something sounding better. All in all I recommend this system to all. Ron Brewer.
This system gives some rich bass from the sub, and good mid range and tops from the satellite speakers. The 5.1 emmulations are quite good but must mak sure you have them in the middle of the room and not on the ends for sound to travel round the room.. this is how i set my system up and it works a treat.. also nice black ebony finish which makes them look really nice in any room design. We had the same problem in that it would not play certain Divx movies, but after contacting philips direct( the shops are a waste of time!!) they told me that i needed to update the firmeware and once i downloaded this and played on my system the divx,s started to play again.. so overall i would give this system an 9 out of 10.
bought this to go with 32" tv in kids playroom ,didn't want to spend a fortune and didn't have to as this system is superb, great pictures thru a £10 hdmi cable and more than loud enough. bad points, none.
