Most books about North Korea tend to be dreary affairs that preach endlessly about how awful it is - or must be, because few of their authors have ever been. But then no one will ever be criticised for kicking North Korea. Guy Delisle actually lived and worked in North Korea and he documents his time there in a light-hearted and fascinating manner. He is bemused by some of their behaviour, he is prevented from doing some everyday things, he explores his surroundings and he relates all this in a series of simple, yet beautiful comic strip chapters. You'll learn more about North Korea from this book than a thousand dreary articles. If you want to see what life is like there and have the occasional chuckle too, I really can't recommend this highly enough.
