NO MORE TIMEWASTERS, PLEASE!!!
If you have no intention of actually PAYING for the item and coming to pick it up, please DONT BOTHER BIDDING!! Ebay seems to be flooded with dreamers, and idiots these days: the rules are simple..
See item, bid on it, win it, pay for it, collect / receive it.......! It couldn't be easier, really, could it..!? ;-)
Thats the (increasingly necessary) boring stuff out of the way......Now down to business!
Up for grabs (again!) here is a professional AMD Opteron Quad-core Workstation PC. It was originally configured as a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), and is ideal for use with Cubase, Logic, Sonar, Reason, ProTools (with appropriate hardware)etc,etc.... It has been tested with Cubase 5 and Reason.
Please note: NO MUSIC SOFTWARE IS INCLUDED WITH THIS...YOU WILL NEED TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN MUSIC PRODUCTION SOFTWARE..!
The computer is a “Workstation” type: designed for professional use.
It has 2 individual Dual-Core Opteron processors, each running at 1.8GHz, and giving true Quad-core performance
4Gb of Ram is installed: as there are 6 RAM slots, it is possible to run up to 24Gb of memory, if you have deep pockets!
The MB is an MSI K8NMaster-2FAR: if you google it you’ll find all the details..! ( http://eu.msi.com/product/server/K8N-Master2-FAR.html )
The great thing about this PC is that it is water cooled! This is a bespoke setup, based around Asetek / Swiftech products. There is an acrylic reservoir column on the rear of the case.
This feeds a Swiftech centrifugal pump. A dual-radiator is fitted to the top of the case with 2 x 120mm fans (with speed controller) to cool the liquid.
The PC has 2x NVidia 7900GT graphics cards in SLI mode: these have a total of 4 DVI sockets avaialbe, so you could, with the right drivers, run up to 4 monitors with this setup!
Both of these are water cooled, along with the 2 x processor blocks. During its life as a driving sim computer, I don’t recall core temps getting above 35c, and that’s after doing a LeMans 24 hour race in real-time, in the heat of the summer...!
Primary drive is a 250Gb SATA unit: this is mounted in a substantial aluminium heatsink. There are 2 spare SATA sockets on the M/B for you to add Audio drives, etc..... The DVD combi drive is also SATA.
Connection to the outside world is via 2 x LAN ports, numerous USB2 sockets and a IEEE1394 Firewire port.
I used this as the heart of a driving simulator a few years back a driving simulator a few years back, running GTR3, R-Factor, RaceDriver 3, etc, and it was great....! It may be a little slow by todays standards for pure gaming using the latest games but it ran all the above games with everything maxed out with no problems...! If you're willing to invest a few quid and a little time upgrading the graphics card(s), I'm sure it can be brought bang up to date...!
It made a great studio tool, too: using the firewire, I had latencies down to around 4ms!
This is no toy: It cost over £2300 originally, so you're getting a bargain!
It has NEVER been overclocked, so none of the components have been stressed: I didn't think it really needed it, tbh, as it did all I wanted it to with ease, as standard..!
The system is set up: all the latest drivers are installed: it is running Windows XP Professional 64bit edition, but you can upgrade to Windows 7 if you like: however, this system is tried / tested for music production and works reliably, so why change it?
I’m including a 19” 4:3 DVI monitor / cable, keyboard, mouse, so you can get up and running right away!
This is a great package at a great price: NO POSTAGE AVAILABE WITH THIS, STRICTLY collection only from Worthing, Sussex.
(I wouldn’t wanna be sending this PC anywhere in the post.....! J )
I MAY be able to deliver locally (S.E) for the petrol costs: email me before you bid to discuss options....
Grab a bargain!
