A look into the eyes of gay men who try to navigate life in their Pittsburg town. The show holds no boundaries when it shows sex, addiction, homophobia, AIDS, and so many other topics. The acting is incredible and the stories are engaging. Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Hal Sparks, and Peter Paige totally shine in their roles. The supportive cast is in incredible as well and really brings the episodes to life.

I have the entire series of Queer As Folk, and enjoy having a "binge", watching one season after another. This series, when it came out, was VERY controversial because it showed gay men and women going about daily life and also, let you into the bedroom of the characters to see what was going on there, too! It shows the fun side of Gay life and also, the really BAD side of Gay life, beatings, bullying and prejudice. When watching these DVD's, I get drawn in to their world, a world I never experienced because I had to stay in the closet, hidden and afraid to be seen for what I was-Gay. I didn't "come out" to my family until I was in my late 40's and by then, the "fun" world of Gay life had passed me by. I showed this series to my Gay Nephew and He was so captivated by the series, it gave Him the courage to come out and be free. He has a loving partner and the support of all of His family and friends. I would recommend this series for anyone that enjoys good characters, great story lines and plot twists. It is a series that all people, Gay or Straight should see at least once to know that Gay people are no different in their daily lives that anyone else, except that they love someone of the same sex.Read full review

When this series first came out I was very excited. I wasn't sure if it was going to last or not because it was the first of its kind. Yes, it's graphic, and sometimes they do things that general society would find inappropriate. However, they also have good story telling. There are several lessons to be learned when you watch. The series goes through detailed events of the characters lives, lifting them up and bringing them down. It's full of drama and entertainment. I can't stop watching the series. As offensive as some people may find it, I think it displays a sense of reality for what it really is like in the gay community. Seems pretty accurate to me. It has the good qualities of the gay community as well as the bad. I'll treasure this collection for a life time.Read full review
The program is entertaining as I remember from the original broadcast, though I always thought it got a bit more explicit than it needed to. My only complaint about the DVD set is the clunky menu. Even on "Play All" it stops after selection for a descriptive overview requiring another hit on "Play".

I bought this series because both me and my friend have wanted to see it for ages, and we were not let down. The actors are all amazing, and the series is hillarious. It had me laughing and wanting more on the first episode. It keeps your attention, and the series doesn't become boring at all. Even if you're not a huge fan of homosexuality, it does explore the kind of life they live and is also a wonderful learning experience. Queer as Folk has become my favorite TV series since I bought this season and started watching it.
