Terrific lens. I’m using it for portraiture. Very sharp. My one tip is that you need to be comfortable moving the focus point in your camera off the centre of the screen, so you can place it over the eye of your subject. If you try the old “focus and recompose routine” brace yourself for lots of blurry photos, the depth of field is just too narrow. Excellent lens.

Brilliant lens. Excellent bokeh back ground blur. Aesthetic quality of the blur amazing. A must for all photographers. Quick and light weight. Manual focus is easy to operate to produce great quality images. Great quality portraits at f/2.8 using natural window light. Amazingly fast shutter speed in low light situations.
This is an excellent prime lens. It is better constructed than the one available new now from Canon. It has had very little use, was like new, complete with lens bag, filter and end caps.
Don't know a Canon F/1.0 lens, the item bought was a 1.8 Haven't had a lens as fast as this since my 35mm film days, and forgot what good quality it gives for the price! Having got used to zoom lenses, I expected this one to be limiting, but with an APS-C camera, the effective focal length is 80mm, ideal for portraits and other mid-range subjects. So light after zooms as well, wish I'd bought one years ago. I love it, and it was so cheap compared to zooms.
As they say 'nifty fifty', great prime lens for the money. Lives up to it's reputation. A1 product..............
