I was very plesed when I received this book. I was a former educator who is now a stroke survivor. I have had borzoi since 1976 and love the breed. Over the past years I have taken various borzoi into the school system to do a Russian history lesson, teaching about the importance of the borzoi breed in their history, proper pet care and unconditional love that dogs provide. I plan on using this beautiful book when I go to schools to read to the children. I currently have a lovely 3 year old borzoi, named Rozalina who was born with only one eye, but doesn't miss a trick. She is very people and animal friendly, and serves as a great ambassodor for her breed and to teach humans how a disability doesn't have to keep you from living a full life. Together, we serve as a great team of not disabled but inconvenienced canine and human owner, making a positive statement to our youth. This book has the most beautiful illustrations and a very endearing story that the children will love along with actually having a real live Wolfhound right there amongst them. The story is a great example of compassion from the child to the dog and compassion from the Tsar to the boy. It also portrays the borzoi as a gentle loyal breed, which it is. It shows that even the Tsar, who was thought of as cruel, with ice water running through his veins, did have a compassionate side toward the boy and showed it through not punishing the child and presenting him with a gift that only the Royals were allowed to own. I am so pleased to have this book to share with others. So glad I found this on ebay. It is rare to find a good story book about borzoi. It will be well shared for years to come.Read full review
