|Seller notes:||“In working order, but makes a feint buzzing sound (heard when in close proximity to the amplifier) when operating, so should ideally be serviced by a qualified person before putting into regular use. There are a few minor cosmetic marks, but it is in good, clean condition overall.”|

Here is my 'old faithful' Radford power amplifier for auction. I've owned it for ten years or so, and when I first bought it, it was my main amplifier. Having the hi-fi 'bug' I have had many other amps since, and always used the Radford as my reference when trying new amps. However, it has not had much use in the last couple of years, and as part of my general 'downsizing' I have decided that I cannot justify keeping it because it is seldom used.
I took it out of storage and connected it up to make sure it was still working ok, and I used it for several hours with various different pre-amps. Everything worked as it should, and it made beautiful music! However, I did notice that it was making a very slight buzzing sound, only noticeable when I was close to it. I have never noticed this before, but this is why I would suggest that this amplifier is given a thorough service before being put into regular use. Components in old valve equipment can go out of tolerance due to age.
I am committed to reducing my collection, so this has to go. I considered having it professionally serviced, but decided not to because I would rarely use it, and it would simply delay my selling it.
The EL34 output valves are Mullards, as are two of the smaller valves. I cannot see a brand marked on the other two smaller valves.
There are a few cosmetic marks on the amplifier, but I would say it is in good, clean condition overall. I have had two other STA25's and neither looked as good as this one. The finish is original. Please study the images. (The image of the circuitry underneath the chassis has been taken with the cover plate removed for clarity.)
Please ask if you need any more information.
This is very heavy, and will be packed with lots of protective packaging, with the valves removed and packed separately and this accounts for the cost of shipping.
I have listed some shipping prices below. Please ask if your country is not shown.
I have estimated the final auction price based on prices achieved for previous auctions for STA25's on Ebay and the packed weight and size of package, in order to arrive at the postage estimates. The high cost is due to the cost of insurance. So far, I have only found one company - Parcel2Go - who will quote for insured delivery of items with a value over £1000, but I will keep looking!
(Please be assured that if the actual shipping cost is less, I will refund the difference. If it is higher, I will pay the extra.)
Cash on collection by the buyer is an option. (I cannot accept payment by Paypal if you collect from me because of Paypal's 'seller protection' rules.)
I cannot ship to mainland China because of Chinese customs rules. Shipping to Hong Kong is not a problem.
Would potential bidders please note that I will not ship to anyone with zero feedback, unless I have received an email with full name, address and contact details before a bid is placed. Also, I will not ship overseas to bidders who have made their feedback Private. This is because, of all my selling experiences on Ebay, the only problems I have encountered have been with bidders in these categories. I hope that genuine bidders will understand.
Please ask if you need any more information.

Re: Shipping & Insurance.
Having looked at many shipping brokers, it seems that, if the value of the amplifier is up to £1000, the insurance cost will be 2% of the value. However, if the value is over £1000, the insurance cost will be 5% of the value.
I have assumed a final auction price of £1500 for the Radford, and that is why the total shipping cost is high.
If it sells for £1000 or less, the insurance cost (and therefore the total cost of shipping) will be much lower.
Please ask if you would like clarification of total shipping costs to your location.
Hello, I would like to know, if you could send the amp to Switzerland and how much is the cheapest shipping. Thank you.
A: Hello, I apologise for the slow response. I have been trying to resolve this! The 'basic' price of shipping to Switzerland will be £42. However, this does not include insurance, and I will only ship with insurance... Continue reading

Hello, Does the power transformer have primary winding taps for using the STA25 at 120VAC in USA
A: Hello PB, Yes, it does indeed, so it can be used on 220/240 Volt and 110/120 Volt supplies. Regards, Allan.
