The big clue is in the title. "Raise the Titanic!" I grew up hearing about the Titanic from my mother, about how many millionaires were on board and how the band kept playing. . . When I watched this film on T.V. and to be honest as a child the pre-raise section was just something to get through. Nothing much has changed there I have to say, from the ludicrous plot to the wooden acting. But from the moment the air bags have been filled and when the explosive charges have been detonated and the ship begins to rise from the sea bed creaking and groaning as it goes, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. And then there is THAT scene. . . when the ship breaks the surface, and THAT music starts to play. I'm not ashamed to say that the tears start to flow as the humanity of the disaster so long ago hits home. The overhead fly past over the still water streaming hull of the ship to the scene where the explorer character boards the ship to place the pennant on the jack staff and sees the still intact wrought iron dome with the melancholy music playing, seemingly drifting from the distant past has to me, got to be one of the most beautiful sequences ever filmed. I cannot watch this section with dry eyes, and for me it more than makes up for the rest.Read full review

The characters are played really well and the story line is a twist on other Titanic films. So if you want a change of story about the Titanic, this is worth watching. Lovely music and excellent filming.
