This movie is a great example of quality content winning the day over big budget dross. A B-movie budget with a super story, script and performances too, producing a truely top movie. Made in the USA, it has a lot in common with the best of European Independent film making. A great script, that no special effects mega spend or star studded cast can better. A food for thought morality tale, set in a post "dirty bomb' struck LA, life and death decisions are ordinary everyday folks nightmares come true, whilst the horror spreads. Best described as a 'Terror Thriller' the film will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end - But beware, there are more twists and turns than you might expect. To top it all the film ends with an unexpected, shocking, deathly sting in its tale. If you enjoy great movies - this is for you. interested in top movies? I work professionally with protection against CBRN, that's short for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear agents, and terrorism. I bought this DVD since it was about a series of 'dirty bombs' over LA - a particular interest of mine. I thought that meant a bomb consisting of conventional explosives and radioactive material. Boy, was I wrong! The material in these bombs is toxic chemical agents, lethal toxins, bacteria, and viruses during the course of the movie. The main characters are Brad (Rory Cochrane) and Lexi (Mary McCormack), a young couple. After Lexi has gone to work the drama breaks loose. Brad can't get in touch with Lexi, so he first tries to rescue her by driving downtown. After watching cops shoot a person coming out of the area where the toxic bombs have gone off, Brad retaliates home after equipping himself with enough plastic and adhesive tape to be able to seal the house. Back home enters the neighbor's handy man and after some hesitation the handy man and Brad seal up the young couple's doors and windows. When Lexi finally shows up she's contaminated by the material in the toxic clouds and Brad acts as advised on local radio; he doesn't let her in. Then follows a rather long siege with Brad on the inside and Lexi outside. At this time you have to be patient because not much does happen for a while until the dramatic end. The rescue teams that go from house to house were clearly fascists in some other time and space - empathy is not their strong side. From my professional view-point this is unrealistic crap, but it's not worse than some other science-related movies I watched over the years. There are certainly worse ways to spend 90 minutes if you're interested in the topic and I think you have to be that to get something out of Right at Your DoorRead full review
Excellent potential, the film starts off very high paced & grabs your attention in the quick aftermath of the Dirty Bomb in L.A, however after the 1st 45minutes or so the single shooting area of the movie being inside a single front room grows a little tedious, and continues to do so for the rest of the film. What begins as action-packed and exciting soon becomes slow and tiresome, with not much of a conclusion or climax. Dissapointing but informative about Dirty Bombs in a way.
This is one of the most stunning films I have seen in quite a while. Dont expect a big budget extravaganza of special effects. Settle down with the pop corn, watch a slowly developing story of horrible choices, getting tough and developing the will to survive. The ending was so shocking that it made me "re-think" my emergency preps.
i did not like this movie in fact it's not a movie but a made for television drama it might be good for tv but as a movie it stinks, iswitched off after 10 minutes and got rid of the dvd.............
