A band that gives me hope that there are still people able to play instruments. A glib comment I know, but, when I listen in the main to people Like Steely Dan, Crusaders etc... its hard to see any value in today's pop/modern/chart music that is shovelled at us from every backhanded DJ on the airwaves, I also find ironic to think I had to hear of this band by buying an OEM version of XP and getting a couple of tracks from this album bundled with Windows Media Player!!! This a great album, it feels good, it makes me feel good, the people playing sound as if its making them feel good and Robert is a genius player. A mix of blues/soul/funk, if you like any of those genres you are going to like Robert Randolph.
When I first purchased a home computer about 18 months ago there were 3 music tracks and 1 video of Randolph and his family band in the music system. That was it,I was hooked. I managed to get hold of his live album and this one. They are an exiting and involved action band with Randolphs steel guitar solos bending your ears( The closest band to them live would appear be the J.Geils Band in the early 70s or Free in the 60s.)I look forward to seeing them live.
i saw this band as a support act to eric clapton at sheffield, if you ever get the chance to see them go. i had never heard of them , but can they play if you like slide guitar robert randolph makes it sing the unclassified cd is fantastic they sound like it live.i rate this band A1 glad i bought the cd on ebay a real bargain.
Saw them live in the park recently and had to have some of their music to add to the IPOD, excellent band, well worth a listen.
Having seen them support Eric Clapton on tour I wanted to see what their recorded material was like. I was not disappointed as this is a fine example from these talented musicians. A bargain buy as well at under £5.00 !
