Tragically underrated album which is much better than Sleepwalking or Brand New Morning. More varied musically and less pompous. Tony Clarkin plays a more aggressive guitar at times in the rockier sections eg the magnificent fast rocker Tell tale Eyes but still pulls out some classic poppier songs eg Tall Ships, or Love's a Stranger but then the magnificent album closer On Christmas Day reminds us of the pomp progressive roots!

Yet another amazing album from what must be one of the longest running yet most poorly promoted bands in British rock history. How Tony Clarkin keeps churning out so many melodic and dramatic songs and riffs puts most other writers to shame. I first saw them live twenty five years ago and seeing them on their recent Princess Alice and the broken arrow tour, they have lost nothing of their exuberant and rich live sound. If anything they are better than ever with Harry James and Al Barrow driving the band on with one of the tightest rhythm units you will ever hear: all this and with smiles on their faces as they obviously still love what they do and share this with their audience on CD and live to the same measure. Shame on their record companies for not promoting them to a higher degree of visibility over the years.Read full review
Goodnight LA was ok, Sleepwalking very mediocre, but Rock Art is fantastic! As it happens their last album before splitting in 1995 & what a way to go out! Recommended.
