I actually got into a U.S. series called Elementary and like the idiot I am I purchased the first 4 seasons, as a fan of Sherlocks since childhood, his adventures with his faithful companion Watson kept me amused for many a dark wintry evening, I think I know as much as most people about him and his cases, so when someone told me about elementary Sherlock set in the 20th century, I thought wow lets go for it. Well if any of you think Sherlock is a cross between Rigsby from Rising Damp and Rik Mayall's character in The Young Ones or Bottom then that series is for you, if like me you are more of a 'Purist' then the BBC's series Sherlock, again set in the 20th century is for you. The superb pairing of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson makes this a series not to be missed, in fact, at times you feel as if you are actually inside Sherlocks mind, its dark and deadly, confusing like a maze yet uncomplicated, he sees with eyes that absorb everything, miss nothing which is not always to his advantage. The BBC have revamped some old classics such as the Sign of Three? will keep you guessing, The Master Blackmailer whose surname is now Mugnusson not Milverton, another 'wow I never saw that coming ending'. It truly is a stunningly made and frustratingly brilliant series if ever I saw one. Jeremy Brett my all time favourite as Sherlock will be smiling in his grave at his new protégé another one for the BBC library of smash hits and another nail in the coffin for CBS's Elementary, bury it deep CBS and raise it to rooftops BBC Brilliant.Read full review

First two was okay, actually the second one was quite emotional but the third and last one was a "saw" spin off therefore it was so disappointing I think I don't want to see a fifth series...

I loved the first 3 series and the 4th is just as good. The characters are played by excellent actors making the series entertaining. The writers have come up with excellent scripts. The whole series is brilliantly directed and produced. The stories are perfectly acceptable and can relate to the present very easily. Overall an excellent superior series compared to other such programmes. Way ahead of everything else.
