I first heard of Spade Cooley on SOMAFM, a very good American on line music station. I am not sure just how 'country' the music on the CD really is, or what makes it qualify for a died-in-the-wool Americana station, but its a lively, almost MOR CD of some very tuneful pieces of music - not really challenging on the ear but good to listen to. It also has some excellent musicianship. I may not listen to it over and over, but I would reckon if you sampled it before buying, then its probably got something for almost everyone, except those who like the country to be dark anbd moody. Steve Earle it ain't!
