1984 Suzuki XR69 Suzuki Classic race bike.

This machine is an authentic and competitive copy of the original Suzuki Factory Superbike.

I bought this bike as a partially finished project with the intention of my son racing it in the Superbike Class Four group with the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club, but he has now been given a Dealer supported ride in the Triumph 675 Championship so all my hard work and hundreds of hours spent preparing this fantastic machine have amounted to nothing - kids, who would have em !

Its a 1984 Harris rocker arm suspension chassis and an EXACT copy of the Suzuki Factory chassis with the exception that the Harris brothers know how to weld and braze, have you seen the state of the welding on the Factory machine ?, I wouldnt ride it to the shops , let alone the TT course !

Legend has it that the Harris boys managed to "borrow" a Factory chassis for 24 hours and made an exact copy dimensionaly but better !

This particular chassis has been stripped, blasted, crack detected and repainted as when it was first made and fitted with a rebuilt WP Suspension unit onto the rocker arm linkage which has all new bearings and seals.

The heavily braced alloy swing arm has also been checked for true and fitted throughout with new bearings.

Re - valved 43mm suzuki GSXR forks are fitted with Harris yokes and Brembo four piston calipers and Brembo master cylinder.Rear brake is a Lockheed two piston race caliper and master cylinder.

An RG500 MK V11 adjustable and rose jointed steering damper helps to control the front fork and the fork lowers have been shot peened for that authentic 80`s race look.

NEW Astralite seventeen inch wheels front and rear with floating 310mm front discs, the rear has a sprocket cush drive.

New alloy fuel tank from Bartel and fitted with QD fuel cap, QD fuel lines and alloy one -way breather valve.All alloy fairing mounts and Scitsu electronic rev counter, Quick action throttle and Renthal race grips with covers to keep the grips clean from greasy mechanics fingers !

All new XR69 bodywork and seat unit (spare painted seat unit included) and alcantara covered seat base, painted in the Heron Suzuki colours of the day and some nice authentic MCN Superbike stickers from the 1983 season.

Moving on to the motor, this has been completely stripped , checked and rebuilt using the best components available.

Graham Salter the well known engine bulder and tuner has gone right through the GS1000 based engine and fitted a rebuilt, welded and balanced crankshaft fitted with straight cut primary gears, new welded heavy duty clutch basket and a Barton close ratio gearbox.

1240cc Wiseco pistons and new Yoshimura stage three cams with adjustable slotted sprockets which have been degreed to the Yoshimura figures, under bucket shims using titanium valve retainers  lightweight buckets.Yoshimura style camchain idler wheel between the cams and further idler wheel between the cylinder head and barrel controlling the new HD race cam chain and APE alloy manual camchain tensioner.40mm one piece Manley inlet valves and a superb gas flow and porting job match the 35mm Keihin CR carbs fitted.

Self generating ignition is driven from the left hand end of the crankshaft and the Igniter boxes are fitted with an adjustable rev - limiter.

The sprocket cover is an authentic copy of the Factory cover as used by the Works Endurance teams who fitted an alternator to the end to provide extra power for lights etc.

The exhaust system is by Bassani from the USA and used because the header pipes which are spring mounted are a very close bend to the original Yoshimura race system and also because it produced the best power on the numerous dyno runs !

After many runs and experimenting with 33mm, 35mm and 37mm Keihin carbs, the 35`s were the ones that were settled on, making 140.1 BHP at 8000 RPM and 95 ft/lb of torque at 6500 RPM and the smoothest, most linear power spread that I have ever seen ! I have records of all the Dyno runs.

It has a welded catch tank fitted under the seat unit and the bellypan conforms to ACU regs regarding oil catchment.

Brand new Pirelli Corsa race tyres are fitted and half the price of the eighteen inch Avon Race tyres !
