I recommend an IDE SSD drive where possible. IDE HDDs are just to slow for modern uses. Having said that, I have a system that has to run an HDD and does not support SATA. This drive is the best answer. It is new and quiet and so far has not shown any issues at all. I recommend it where an IDE HDD is the only option. Trustworthy brand and fully supported.

These drives are advertised as "Internal Hard Disk Drives for Laptops" they are not!! ....they are for non movable-gaming consoles, etc.. Right on the HDD it is printed "NOT SUITABLE FOR LAPTOP COMPUTER USE" These drives will fail within a year, depending on how much motion they experience in a laptop. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ADVERTISED AS LAPTOP HARD DISK DRIVES!!!!!

I installed this hard drive to replace a 60GB Hitachi drive that was failing in my 2003 model Fujitsu laptop. Fortunately, the old drive would function intermittently so that I was able to clone the new Seagate drive. (The old drive would boot the computer on approx. 1 in 20 attempts, so much patience needed.) The new Seagate drive works perfectly and has provide extra capacity and speed to an older laptop that I had assumed was destined for the recycling bin. Not my primary computer but a now reliable backup in a spare bedroom. Very happy that NOS laptop components are still available through sellers on eBay.
This drive was shipped very quickly, and arrived well ahead of the promised date. The drive package was fully protective of the drive. The drive fit inside the drive housing of the laptop and works like a charm right out of the package.. It is almost twice as fast as other drives that I have purchased for this laptop. I am very happy with this purchase.
