I bought the Sharp MD-MT 161 because the one I have, although it will play, will not record. The one I bought works perfectly. I find the quality of recerding as good as anyone could want. I like the really useful editing facilties on it. I make mic recordings of both organ and piano music. I use some condensor mics which I bought in a shop in Dunstable for £1.75 each. They are intended for use in a computer and are better in range and dynamics than all my expensive mics. I have wired the two mics to one stereo jack. I advice cleaning all plugs with brasso for crackle free operation. The MD supplies the necessary voltage to work them. The only drawback with the portable MD is battery life. I use an extenal battery pack. If these die, the MD goes to its internal ones. I have bought three other MD's on ebay. The first one was boxed with its own mains supply and virtually new, the other two were no good as they too refused to record and were well passed their useful life. It must be a character of MDs that their ability to record is the first sign of weekness. I have bought 100s of discs and only three were ever faulty. As you can use them over and over, I think they are wonderful. I could learn how to edit on the computer, but MDs are just so easy. Once you have edited your CD, you can make a digital CD with the push of one button. I have a sony MD but it is not nice, it has only an automatic level for recording and it just aint user friendly like the sharp.Read full review
I recently bought this Mini disc player online and could not be more pleased with it than I am . The sound quality is fantastic and the recording function is brilliant. It fits nicely in any for convenience. Also, it looks good too.
