Wish I had more space this is what I do when I get a chalk line.im old school and a 35yr chippy the string nowadays is thinner and strands bound more tighty so basically the chalk doesn't penetrate the string and if used like this at first u end up with with a colourd mess along the floor.i totally unwind all the string soak it in a small bowl of water for an hour.this makes the string fatter I shake of the excess water wrap the string around a piece of card put in airing cupboard untill string is dry and then rewind it back into chalk case and as I'm doing this is puff in chalk as I go.it will jam up if you put to much in.its worth spending 10 min to jot rush this.when all done and use you get a nice sharp line mark on wall or floor.so that's what I do but they say always follow manufacturers instructions. I think the details describing your item should include that it does not come with chalk ,which in my mind is a big fault ,as one is no good with out the other

Great for what I bought it for. The string is the poorest part but for the price you cannot complain.
