I previously had a Skymax 150 which was good but a bit bulky for occasional use and took a while to reach temperature equilibrium. The 102 is much more compact and still gives good planetary images for it's size - I can clearly see the belts of Jupiter even before opposition this spring. The eyepieces as supplied are OK for starters but I would suggest it might be worth investing in a good quality medium power - say 15mm to get the best out of this scope. Great combination of size, performance and value.
