Bought at what I though a good price, but seems to have sent my choices in an opposite direction. Being a bit of a dinosaur, but kept up to date until last year or so when the touchscreen market is starting to leave me behind, despite using a tablet regularly. I decided to get this as have always been a Sony fan, and after swapping to Nokia N8 due to a friend recommending I get that rather than go down iPhone route, and getting sick of screen being sensitive if put too close to my ear (causing mute to be switched on). Had about a month now, and still undecided. Phone has android type running system im used to, but very alien to any other Sony Ive had recently, and nothing like N8, so am either going to have to stick to one and sell one, or keep one as a spare. Nokia - robust but quite heavy, although 12mp camera a major plus. Sony - flimsy by comparison, a bit 'creaky' in use, worried that most common spare part is battery cover. Sorry, but still undecided, but one will have to go,so watch this spaceRead full review
I chose this phone based on its reputedly excellent camera, and am so glad I did. The camera really is brilliant, performing extremely well under very varied conditions (from outdoor landscapes and kids action shots to low-light and macros, plus HD video... everything looks great). (Tip: I found the touch-capture hard to manage and the shutter button awkward, at least with the phone in a case, but have started using the touch focus setting for absolutely everything - it works a treat.) It's also more than meeting my needs in other respects. I love the super customisable home pages (five!) and although this is my first smartphone, it didn't take me long to get to grips with all its workings. I love how easy it is to change settings such as brightness, or switching the phone to silent mode. I do suggest downloading Swype for an easier touchscreen keyboard experience. And I wish the battery lasted just a bit longer - but I guess that's the price for the brilliant, huge display. On the plus side, charging it every night means plugging it into my computer, which is a great opportunity to upload any pics I've taken.Read full review
I am committed Sony Ericsson fan, but was very dissappointed with the Xperia X10 which I found cumbersome, made me feel as though I had bananas for fingers and had a battery life that did not make it through a day with the minimum of use. After losing it I needed a replacement and hesitated before going for the Arc - seriously considered the Samsung Galaxy S2 but for the price - I am so pleased that I did, it is much easier to use than it's predecessor, I don't send texts in double dutch and as yet the battery has not run out during a normal days usage. The downsides, yes there are some, firstly the on off button come on SE whos bright idea was it to design one as small as a seed? Too Small and fiddly. Also the neverending question of mobile internet it's great that there is an icon indicating that the mobile service is not connected and that you can very easily connect but to turn it off is another matter, it feels as though it has been hidden so you won't bother. Overall I am so pleased with my phone, the camera is great, the sound is good both on the phone and also for music, the screen and images are also good. The Arc has restored my faith in Sony Ericsson. I am very happy, overall 9/10Read full review
