Its a great gadget. The gaming/video/processing capabilities are right up there. Very smooth scrolling and apps open fast. Lots of very nice games and nice big screen for reading webpages and books (which is what I use it for mostly). Sony Ericsson has indicated an update to Android 4 - so that's another plus. Its kinda hefty and solid in your pocket - which is something I prefer, but if you're looking for that light/slim thing that fits in your skinny jeans, this might be a slight problem. Considering that there are so many buttons on the phone, its a bit of a shame one of them isn't programmed as a camera click button... even though the "R" button is perfectly located for it. The most irritating thing about the phone though, is that the touch screen doesn't work very well at the corners. So if there's a button at the bottom left or right corner that you're trying to press... it gets a bit tricky. Considering that most buttons are at the bottom of the page - I'm guessing this is more irritating than the designers predicted. All in all, I think its great value for money! Particularly since most people get put off with the "gaming" aspect of it and want a small/slim phone - so this means that the price remains quite reasonable for a phone that is this great!Read full review
My blackberry 8520 broke so i took it to the range and sent it out in style. I was tired of the small screen and keys and basically everything about it. The XPERIA Play was perfect, nice, clear large screen, easy to use keyboard, responsive touchscreen, amazing games, incredibly easy to use, to compare it to an iPhone I would say it is just as easy to use, the screen is as clear, the only downside is that the touchscreen is slightly less responsive. Overall an amazing phone with amazing games, definitely recommend buying it
Overall phone is pretty good, just not as blown away as i was hoping, there doesnt seem to be very many good games for the xperia play that use the controller, i was hoping to see some good first person shooters or racing games but so far no luck. the best thing i think is the exclusivity of this phone, its something different to the iphone that everyone else gets. Good camera, reasonable music but no external controls, very good touch screen, smooth interface and good quality build.
I like it. All works fast and smooth and has all software I need. I can write it by himself if needed. GPS works fine, search for sats so fast comparing to my old GPS. Some cons. about phone: - vibration are so small... - speaker volume are low on the highest volume - 3G+GPS+display consume very much power. thats all. I'll recommend it as a business phone or as a geek's phone.
I love the size and weight of the phone. It is easy to use and loads off apps are available. My one concern is the keypad for texting, it doesnt support querky, the keypad is very small because it doesnt orientate, but i am getting used to it and its becoming less of a problem
