I used to use the older model which in its self is very good but this one is supperior in many ways.It loads faster, tunes in to more channels & it is easyier to use.Its remote is set out much better than the older model for operation purpases.
I choose the Sony RDR-GXD360 DVD Recorder mainly because a) it met my specifications, b) that was it was a Sony and was the same make as my television, c) it has freeview, (which was a must) d) it records and plays both plus and minus RW's disks, e) RW disks can be obtained on eBay for less than 40p each compared to VHS tapes at £1 each For those who do not want a recorder with a hard drive,or hmci connection, - who should then choose a 560 or 860, then the 360 is an ideal product, which I would recommend and buy again. No regrets, but I do carry out my research before choosing any product, and consider the pros and cons against other products
Very impressed with this item, its great to be able to watch one thing on tv and recorder another on the dvd at the same time. Easy to install and very easy to use. The menu just comes up like on freeview tv and you move to the item you wish to recorder and click and thats all you need to do. Only let down I would say is it is quite noisey but I have another DVD recorder and its the same so its to be expected with a DVD Recorder as they all have fans and this is what makes the noise. All in all its a great item. Not sure if I would pay full price at £300 for it thou as I'm sure other makes will do the same at the fraction of the price. In other words its nothing special considering its a Sony but the general item is great. Would look for a cheaper make doing the same thing to be honest.Read full review
Needed a freeveiw tuner to replace analogue model so chose Sony due to reputation. Great choice, feature packed & easy to use. Superb picture quality & flexibility over record lengths. Smart, simple front end. Does take long time to load disc from start up & lack of HDMI slot may be restrictive to some but I use in bedroom so scart ok, but major disadvantage here is at 03:50 every morning machine kicks into life waking me up. I've turned off auto update but still persists so have to unplug - rather a pain. Any suggestions welcome.
