This stuff is very good. I had no problems with coating my pastel work with it, and it left no unworkable surface over the pastel, although I used quite a heavy coating. I would recommend this product to anyone who cares for an odourless application with no harmful fumes. I sprayed quite a heavy layer at first, which dried quickly and evenly, and left no sticky surface. I must admit that I do apply quite a thick layer of pastel on my paper, Pastelmatt, which holds the medium well, so perhaps the fixer was soaked up by the pastel. I see no reason for using anything other than this product, as I am more than satisfied with it. I would recommend a trial spray, pressing the plunger a couple of times, before pointing it at your work, as it does seem to squirt out a few blobs before settling down. This, however, is usual with this kind of spray system. Overall an excellent product, which leaves no unsightly drying marks.Read full review

The fixative is very good, except the spray pattern is not fine enough, sometimes droplets will form. So I use this fixative in a different spraybottle.

I checked out most of the reviews of fixatives on the market and this one came highly recommended. On spraying it is a little messy, but it's worth it in order to keep the quality of the colour ( pigmentation of the pastel). I thoroughly recommend this product.

I found using Spectrafix colours remain bright and paintings remain fully workable on good quality pastel paper. No nasty fumes and much better colour retention than the hairspray I was using. It's expensive but you don't need much, just a quick spray across the paper.
