My old beater has a nylon finish that is cracked and peeling, so I wouldn’t use it for fear that some would flake off into the food. If I peeled it all off, I wasn’t sure how the base metal would react to acidic foods, somI bought a small, cheap mixer to use instead. I’m glad to have my big heavy-duty KitchenAid back in service! It is an old friend and work-mate I have missed. The new beater is even better than the old one. I love it!

The Seneca Trading beater will mount on our mixer. At slow speeds it did a poor job of mixing. At higher speeds, it flopped around enough that it was hitting the side wall of the mixer bowl every few seconds. This is not acceptable. The Seneca Trading part is not an equivalent to the original beater, and it is not usable as a replacement in our Model KP50 mixer. I noted this when I returned the defective beater.

A great beater, I bought this for my Kenmore Elite 5 quart stand mixer which did not have any attachments when I bought it. It fits on the shaft and does not fall off so it functions as original.

While I was not expecting this K5AB replacement part to be like my original 5KSS, it should have had a tighter fit when locked in. Due to this loose fit, there was too much movement of paddle and the edge of the paddle hit the bowl sides when running. Otherwise, it looks just like my original powder coated metal paddle.
