As a collector of British stamps I wanted more detail than the basic Stanley Gibbons "Collect British Stamps" publication provides (which I already had) Although called "Concise," this Stamp Catalogue is in fact very detailed with enough information about stamp colour variations, watermarks and values etc. for all but the most expert collector. Stamps are illustrated in colour but without any colour key. It can therefore be difficult to distinguish how the colour variations differ from each other. For example one stamp may be described as "yellow-green" but another version of the same stamp as "very yellow green". The colour can affect the value of the stamp enormously but these descriptions are often of little practical use to anyone except an expert, except to notify the collector that there is more than one version of a stamp. In summary, this is a good value publication which I would have no hesitation in recommending to the reasonably serious collector of British Stamps.Read full review
