firstly, this isnt for seized studs, its not heavy duty enough for those so please dont attempt them. if you do a lot of cylinder head work where studs have to be removed prior to machining, these tools are perfect, in the past I have used pliers or other such tools to get the studs turning, ot used two nuts tightened together, I have used a more heavy duty stud remover but I found the studs kept getting stuck in the tool so i bought this, it neatly goes over the stud, and the mechanism inside it grips the stud as you turn it loose, it does it easily, with no damage to the stud, and hardly any effort, you can also use the tools to nip up the studs tight upon rebuilding. I dont really know why I struggled doing it other ways in the past.

I purchased these extractors to remove studs from a motorcycle engine, the studs I needed to replace were to hold down the barrels on a 2 stroke engine which were approximately 150mm long. I used the 8mm stud successfully, although the stud flexed due to its length the extractor did not loose grip and the stud came out with minimal effort.
