This film is intresting for people who are not familer with Tim Burtons style of films. The stroy line is well thought out and brings everything to a close nicley. The downside is the musical aspect of the film, it is very hard to understand what people are sining about, would recomend watching with subtitles.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp: two legendary talents team again. The director and star of five remarkable films (including Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) now add a razor-sharp sixth with this gripping thriller based on Stephen Sondheim's worldwide stage sensation. This tale of a 19th-century London barber with revenge on his mind and a blade in his hand has it all: blood, mystery, romance, wit, exhilarating music and stunning visual design. Co-stars Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Sacha Baron Cohen add more menace to the masterpiece as Sweeney's partner and victims in crime. Need a shave? A close shave? Sweeney's waiting.
What a wonderful film!!! Marvellous music by Stephen Sondheim and a dark film by Tim Burton. J Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter and as mad as a box of frogs and they are truly WONDERFUL in their roles. The whole package is a joy to watch and listen to - albeit a little bit gruesome! But surely you say the lead actors can't sing - well they perform the songs brilliantly and I love their singing - it has a certain honesty - would an opera singer do it better? NO - they would do it differently. But this movie and watch it - it will become a classic.
Johnny Depp at his best. Well worth a watch even if you dont usually like musical films. This is very dark and gruesome and keeps the viewer watching.
