I finally picked this up having owned all others except 'Waters Edge' it is probably the weakest in the catalog. But it's 'The Sweet' so it's still worth getting. Case in point try picking 'The Beatles' weakest album? 'Identity Crisis' is the trio's Third offering, it's raw and completely stripped away of 'over production' which is characteristic of a lot of the bands other works, especially the singles. I know that Andy Scott holds Steve Priests voice in high regard and referred to it as a typical 'Heavy Metal voice' I believe he pushed Stevie forward, to take up the slack for Brian's absence and so Steve Priest lead vocals every track, except two. I believe this was a mistake and probably Mick and Andy should have shared equal lead vocals proportionately. Especially when you've got an arsenal like these guys! There are however split vocals with Andy on 'It makes me wonder' a stand out track and Andy resurrects an old rockin' blues classic by 'Billy Boy Arnold', which 'The Yardbirds' released as their debut single in 64' and 'David Bowie' picked up on for his 'Pin up's' album 73' (Brilliant) Andy's version is a delicate blend and certainly comparable with all of these, no doubt from his gigging, swinging 60's, Soho days! The more I play this album the more I like it. Like I said if they had balanced out Stevie a bit more, it could have had greater dynamics. Enjoy!Read full review
This Sweet album is unfortunately was low with attention even if the album is absolutely brilliant in my opinion. I recommend to all The Sweet fans this album. You should definitely purchase.
