The Red Army took everything in its path and simply dominated the Geordie hordes. Phil Thomson 'tucked the mighty Malcolm Macdonald in his pocket and took it home for his kids to play with'. Liverpool later stole their two best players, Kennedy and McDermott, who then starred in many future successes. This was Shankly's mighty 'swansong' as he retired shortly afterwards before handing over to the great Bob Paisley (who also did rather well !!)
