Having watched the series when originally broadcast and the subsequent film recently on terrestrial TV, I wanted to see if it was still as enjoyable and found this used DVD. Really good value and in excellent condition ... and yes it was as enjoyable as I remember.

This is an excellent story of the formation of a choir, made up of the wives of British soldiers sailors and airmen, serving in Afghanistan. The plan was to give the wives and girlfriends, something to occupy their time while they were on the base with basically, nothing to do but go about their daily lives, in limbo while their husbands were away. A year was spent with them, bringing out their singing talents, culminating in a choir of quite brilliant quality. The idea was taken up by another group of military wives from another base and the two choirs performed together. This spurred on other choirs to form and they sang in front of Her Majesty The Queen at the annual Royal British Legion, Festival Of Remembrance at the Albert Hall. They went on to make a number one single and album and gained recognition all over The World. I missed most of the Television coverage of the forming of the choirs but bought and viewed the DVD with delight and sometimes a small tear of emotion. I will most certainly view it many more times.Read full review
