Time has not been kind to this load of tosh from 1952 based on a story by Ernest Heminmgway. Gregory Peck is badly miscast as the macho, hard-drinking, safari-mad hero although the women in his life, Ava Gardener and Susan Hayward, are more believable. Set in Africa but looking as though it was filmed on a Hollywood back-lot, the film features lots of stock footage of wild animals and unconvincing back-projections. To round things off, the story is told in a series of sometimes confusing flashbacks.
