To cut a very long and drug filled story short, the Fishing For Luckies story is somewhat of a lost period in The Wildhearts history. Origanally a six track mini album relesed in very limited supply to the fan-club members of the time, this 1996 re-re-release(not a typo!) of the album was somewhat shunned at the time as being a simple cash in by the record company who had realised that they could actually make money off the songs. The companys first attempt at this was the fabled Fishing For More Luckies release that was cancelled at the last minuite. This 1996 album was the "offical" re-release and did chart quite well at the time. So, thats the back story out the way, on to the review. This album simpally contains some of the best songs in Wildhearts history. Tracks such as "Inglorious" and "Sky Babies", if released under more straight forward circumstances, would have been concideded true classics. These songs spiral to such dizzying heights with pure rifforama pulsating from every pore that its almost impossible not to be swept up in their twister of genious. But please dont think that these are the only two tracks of merit here as every track from the origonal release is incredible. Of the tracks recorded just for this re-relese there are the two classic singles "Red Light, Green Light" and "Sick of Drugs" that enjoyed great chart sucsess at the time and are still burried away in every self respecting DJs collection, and also the furious "In Like Flynn" that contains cheeky lyrics referancing the bands split from long time record lable East West. The riffs just keep piling up. As documents of brittish musical history alone, everyone should own at least one Wildhearts album. Admittedly this one album should be either "Earth Vs" or "P.H.U.Q", but as a statement of just how great the Wildhearts where in their prime, Fishing For Luckies is very hard to beat. Now truely forgotten by the mainstream, this album is the deffenition of the underrated classic. In the immortal words of Ginger on "In Like Flyn", "Good bye East West, God bless...THE WILDHEARTS"Read full review

This was purchased on behalf of my son for my second son's birthday (They were born within 11 months and 1 week of each other). Thier music tastes are very simillar. I particularly liked the cover of this album! Both my son's were pleased with the condition of the album as it was a replacement for one which had been damaged,so both sons were happy. One to be able to give it as a gift and the other to receive it as a gift. Thanks
